A Cache of Haiku

By Ron Dawson

Poetry

A Cache of Haiku

Haiku is a form of Japanese art or verse with three lines of 5, 7, and 5 syllables. Haiku is sometimes referred to as poetry and the subject matter is usually one of nature or one of the seasons. However many authors have used many other subjects.

I challenge each one of you to try writing some Haiku yourself. It’s fun and educational as well. Open up a new world to you and your children. You will be surprised at the results of your writings. I hope you enjoy the fascinating world of Haiku in the following pages. Revitalize your senses and dream on.

I have broken down my book into the following sections:

Spring - Summer - Fall - Winter - Christmas - Japan - China - General

A Cache of Haiku

Spiders weave their webs

a maze of strong silky thread

white cocoons of death.

Umbrellas full bloom

propelling misty rainfall

wet spray everywhere.

Candles flickering

soft breezes gently blowing

long, dark shadows form.

March winds rolling in

warm sun, temperature rises

the robin’s egg cracks.

Flowers are blooming

hues of green meadows shining

the spring rain hugs earth.
