A Practical Guide For Baby's Parents
(The First Year)
By Yvonne Schmidhauser
Help for Baby's first year
A Practical Guide For Baby's Parents (covering the first Year), a book of the series that teaches experience (If I'd Only Known) When I was at University becoming a teacher one of the things they tried to teach us was, you can only teach knowledge - never experience. Experience is the thing you have.
To this day I disagree. On many occasions in my life I heard myself saying, if I'd only known Things would have been easier, better, less costly.
This book series is not about in depth scientific or medical knowledge of how to bring up your children. But, it is full of practical ideas and feedback from other parents and my hope is that you will learn from other people's experience without having to make all the mistakes yourself first. One of the highest compliments I ever received was from my daughter in-law Priscila. Talking with her about having children one day she said, when we're having our first child you'll need to tell me everything on how and what you did with yours that they became so complete and lovable. You brought your son up to be a perfect husband.
I knew, of course, that she meant to complement me on a job well done and I was pleased - which mother wouldn't be? The only reservation I had was with the word perfect. I know I'm not perfect, nobody is, but some don't admit it. I used to say to my children, the biggest favour I'm doing you is having all the faults I have. For you that means you can only do better. One of the hardest things for a child is try to live up to a perfect parent.
About the book:
During the course of my professional career as an early childhood educator, a teacher and a school counselor I had to deal with many child related problems. My knowledge and growing experience helped me help others. Many told me, 'We did what you suggested and it worked great. Why don't you write it down so other parents could also benefit from your ideas'.
